NEWS FROM OUT NUTRITIONIST

Over the past 6 weeks we have introduced a new menu. The children have enjoyed exploring different foods from different cultures. The meals in which the children were not quite fond of, have been replaced with new meals to try over the next 6 weeks

CATERPILLAR ROOM

First of all, we would like to say a big welcome to the new families to the centre. We look forward to a great start to your child’s education and experiences; and are available to assist with their transitions in any way possible.

With weather getting warmer, we have been able to venture outside more often. The children have been enjoying sandpit play with measuring, digging, pouring and scooping.

The children have also shown a strong interest in exploring colours and shapes through painting, pasting and sensory art.

We are currently filling our family tree and are requesting families/caregivers to please bring in a family photograph for display purposes. In doing so, the children feel recognised and respected for who they are and where they belong.

We welcome any comments or suggestions from parents and caregivers.

Outcome 1: Children have a strong sense of identity – Children develop knowledgeable and confident self-identities.

COCOON ROOM

The weather has been wonderful as of late and we have been taken advantage of this time.

We have been looking at construction in the sandpit using twigs, leaves and rope. The children have been creative and shown great imaginations using a variety of strategies; and their concentration has been fantastic. We have also been looking at balance and how our bodies move. We experimented with rope on the ground as it gave us great shapes to follow and balance along. This experience was lots of fun and we all shared in so much laughter. The children have also been looking at floating and sinking with our wonderful water table that was donated to the centre by Dave Hemer. The children love using this new space and sharing in discussion together.

Outcome 4: Children are confident and involved learners – Children develop a range of skills and processes such as problem solving, inquiry, experimentation, hypothesising, researching and investigating

PRESCHOOL

As you all are probably aware, Emma is away travelling America! While Emma has been away, Molly and Jean have been running the Preschool room with Kristy. For those who don’t know Kristy, she is one of our educators who has just returned from maternity leave. She will now be working along-side Emma in the Preschool room.

This term, the children and Educators will be focusing on movement, movement in art, music, drawing to music, dancing, our bodies and our environment.

Over the last week, we have looked at how our bodies work and move. We made a life sized body puzzle with the children and labeled the body parts. After making the puzzle, we spoke about what our body parts can do. We have also used physical activity to see how we move through obstacles. As the weather is warming up, please make sure your child/ren come to care with a hat and a drink bottle. Thank you.

Outcome 4: Children are confident and involved learners – Children develop dispositions for learning such as curiosity, cooperation, confidence, creativity, commitment, enthusiasm, persistence, imagination and reflexivity.

OUR COMMUNITY

We are continuing to build strong community bonds with the wider community as we look to continue providing high quality care and a sense of belonging. We would like to say a big thank-you to the Good Shephard primary school for allowing us to use the HUB facility. Also our physical education visits and the library visits which the children love. We are also grateful for our connection with the Angaston primary school and the Angaston kindy for their ongoing support
