The Toddler room have worked on a wonderful project creating a poster for our Local CFS to thank them for all the work in keeping us safe. Then after sharing in discussions with the children we decided as a group to enter in the Angaston Show competition. All the children painted pictures of what our Local CFS meant to them. We had many red fire trucks, and creative pictures of Fireman fighting the fires. We then put the childrens art into a folder and together with the poster we created Lisa took them all to the post office, and today it is sitting proudly on a display at the Angaston Show. If you are enjoying the show today please have a look at your childrens pictures in the hall. ... See MoreSee Less

We’ve had a strong focus on strengthening our fine motor skills this week in the under twos room. We picked our sun flower once dried and enjoyed exploring it closely, picking out the seeds and pulling off the dried leaves. We practiced our turn taking and demonstrated spatial awareness as we blew bubbles. Concentrating intently as we pushed the wand back into the tube. Today we painted with cotton buds and the children were heard saying “dot, dot, dot” as they painted. We also had a visit from a very big and noisy crow. The children were very interested in the birds sounds and waved goodbye as it flew away. Educators have discussed making bird feeders with the children to invite even more birds into our outdoor environment.

The toddlers have had a fun filled and very busy week. We have spent the last few days moving into our new room, the children have loved being involved in the process and have shown great excitement to be involved.
The toddlers experimented with ice gloves in water, pouring warm water over them and watching as they were melting. The children were able to explore simple concepts through play and hands on investigation and experiment with cause and effect.
The toddlers also had fun face painting with masks and dolls. They were able to use their sense of touch, sight and smell to make choices and create and strengthen fine motor muscles and control.
The toddlers were able to explore the action of pouring from jugs and cups, they were able to explore the basic concept of volume and depth and were able to use their hand/eye coordination skills and increase their spatial awareness.

The under twos children have enjoyed playing ‘peek a boo’ with our new colourful silk scarves this week and exploring the different patterns and textures. The children initiated their own group reading time on the yarning mat outside and educators observed as some of the children encouraged their peers to come and join them. Today we explored pastel pencils on dark coloured paper and enjoyed showing them to our families at the end of the day. We also celebrated a birthday and enjoyed tasting and trying new foods.
